Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a website cost?
Over the years, we’ve charged customers from $2,000 to $20,000 to create their websites. The variance in price is based on our customers’ needs. We determine the cost based on the complexity of your website’s design needs, the amount of information we need to include, whether you are writing your own copy, how well your branding is developed and more. At our first meeting together, we’ll ask you a lot of questions and can give you a ballpark estimate at that time.
Will I be able to edit my website myself?
Yes! We purposely use a website builder that’s easy to understand so that our customers who choose to make their own edits can do so easily. If you work with us, you’ll receive training and written instructions on how to edit your own website.
What are my monthly costs after you complete the website?
After we build your website, you’re not required to continue working with us (or paying us for any other services). We’ll train you to keep your website secure and edit it yourself, if you choose to do so. However, most of our clients choose to continue working with us after their website has been built. Websites are generally not meant to be static and can require changes and additions along the way. We highly recommend a Website Support Plan to keep your website safe and optional monthly marketing services to increase your revenue. Read more about our Website Support Plans and what you can do to continue to attract potential customers through your website.
What if I just need a simple website?
We create custom websites and custom quotes for every customer we work with. If you need a simple website, we won’t sacrifice quality, user experience, or guidance throughout your project. But, we do cut out costs for services that you don’t need.
How much do I have to have ready for my website before I hire you?
Nothing! We actually recommend that you call us as soon as you’re thinking about a new or improved website. Often people make some costly mistakes in securing hosting and domain names, and we’d like to be there to make the website process as smooth and effective as possible. We’ve helped business owners with all of the marketing pieces like choosing a great domain name, developing branding and logos, setting up other business systems, and even naming their business!
Can you build my website in Wix or Squarespace?
We don’t like working in Wix or Squarespace, but we are willing to explore making edits or improving a website done in one of these builders.
In our experience, website builders that claim they’re user friendly are rather confusing and limited. These builders (including GoDaddy site builder and Siteground site builder) also don’t allow you to use their software on any other hosting platform other than theirs.
We strongly believe in using WordPress for the websites that we build. WordPress is free, open-source software developed and maintained by some pretty awesome developers. WordPress websites can be downloaded for backup purposes and moved to any hosting platform. You can do practically anything with a WordPress website due to the wide range of software that can be added to it. It’s also easy to find developers that will work on a WordPress website.
You may have heard horror stories from friends who have had trouble editing their own WordPress website. At Harmony, we make it easy for you by installing easy editing tools where you can see exactly what you’re editing. We also provide training on how to use your website upon completion.
